The British news agency Justice News247 recommends for the first time personalities, institutions of law that form an elite of the profession both nationally, regionally and continentally or globally. Today we present to you the Academy of Sciences of Moldova.
This institution has in its structures elites with global reputation in the fields of practice.

The Academy of Sciences of Moldova (ASM) is a public institution of national interest,
autonomous and independent from public authorities, apolitical, founded on 2 August 1961, and
reorganized under the provisions of the Code on Science and Innovation nr. 259-XV of 15 July
2004 (as amended).
The Academy of Sciences brings together personalities with outstanding achievements in the fields of
research, innovation and culture: full members (academics), corresponding members,
honorary members, as well as scientific researchers, elected as members of the Sections of Sciences.
Currently, there are 36 academicians, 37 corresponding members, 40 honorary members and 45 scientific researchers
(habilitate doctors and doctors chosen by competition inas members of the Science Sections).
The mission of the Academy of Sciences is to contribute to the sustainable development of the Republic
Moldova through fundamental and applied research in the fields of science and culture, at
stimulating and promoting scientific creation of great value and the image of national science
worldwide.
The organization of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova had a positive impact on evolution of
science in the republic, development of fundamental research, valorization of
scientific, historical and cultural heritage, implementation of research results in the national economy.
Going through periods of consolidation and affirmation, of searches and achievements, the Academy of
Sciences has rightly become not only the most important scientific forum in the Republic of Moldova
but also one of the internationally renowned authorities, with a special
responsibility and credibility. In particular, it was ASM that was the locomotive that managed to
associate the Republic of Moldova with the European Research and Innovation Framework Programmes
(as of 1 January 2012).
At present, the Academy of Sciences has the leading role in setting priorities and
assessment of the state of science at national level, representing the entity that exposes itself on
the theoretical and practical quality and value of the scientific results obtained within the
national, bilateral and regional projects with full or partial funding from the state budget.
In the first half of 2019, the Academy of Sciences of Moldova entered the process of
renewal and restructuring. Currently, the Academy consists of three Science Sections:
Life Sciences Department; Department of Exact Sciences and Engineering; Department of Social and Economic Sciences,
Humanities and Arts.
On April 9, 2019, by an overwhelming majority of votes, in the position of President of the ASM
acad. Ion Tighineanu, doctor habilitat in physical and mathematical sciences, was elected. On 17 November
2023 Acad. Tighineanu was re-elected president of the Academy for the 2nd term.
In accordance with the provisions of the Code on Science and Innovation, approved in 2004 (with
subsequent amendments), ASM became a strategic consultant of the Government, having the attribution
to elaborate the Annual Report on the state of science in the Republic of Moldova, to expose on the quality of research carried out by the entire scientific community, manifesting and promoting maximum openness of the scientific community to the problems of society. Scientific forum
stimulates, over the years, scientific and cultural creation, including through the annual conduct of
the competition “Award for valuable scientific achievements” in the fields of competence of Science sections.
Many scientific events are organized (academic readings, public lectures, scientific conferences, exhibitions of young researchers,
exhibitions of books, photography, plastic art, etc.)
ASM organizes public hearings of scientific results obtained within the
fundamental and applied research projects, as well as state programs and
projects for young researchers, financed from the state budget.
All public hearings are broadcast in live stream format and are available to all society.
The voice of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova is heard through the contribution of the scientific elite to
social and economic development of the country, by promoting research, innovation and culture, by
stimulating high-value scientific creation and internationalizing research.
In recent years, 7 communication platforms have been launched at the Academy of Sciences
Scientific:
• “Ecological security in the context of accelerated environmental change” (coordinator Mem. cor. Elena Zubcov)
• “Food Security and Food Safety” (coordinator mem cor. Rodica Sturza)
• “Economic security, migration and demographic transformations” (coordinators acad. Gregory Belostecinic and mem. cor. Alexandru Stratan)
• “Strokes” (coordinator acad. Stanislav Groppa)
• “The new-type coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 and interference with other diseases” (coordinator acad. Eva Gudumac)
• “Fundamental sciences for sustainable development of society” (coordinator Prof.Vladimir Fomin, honorary member of ASM)
• “Education in society” (coordinator mem. cor. Ion Gagim).
Within these platforms, round tables and public lectures were organized where
the most pressing problems of society generated by the challenges of the XXI Century were discussed
(COVID-19 pandemic, climate change, food security, peace and peace
security in the current geopolitical context, etc.).
