Leaving a trail for others to follow.

I have just returned from Ireland, where I was deeply honoured to be recognised by the Intervarsity Law Summit 2026 with the Orientem Solem Award.
Now in its fifth year, the award is presented to those who have broken barriers and contributed meaningfully to social discourse and societal thought. I am humbled to be counted among previous recipients, which have included two former Irish Presidents, a former Lord Chief Justice, and a former President of the UK Supreme Court.
It was also a privilege to share the occasion with Bob Geldof, KBE, who was awarded the Manus in Manu Award for his extraordinary humanitarian work.
My sincere thanks to the people of Cork for your warmth, hospitality and kindness. A special thank you to the team at the Intervarsity Law Summit, to Shauna Dalton and Mohammad Naeem for their leadership and vision, to Juli Rea for your gift: “Cry, The Beloved Country” and to my special guest Susan Monaghan for her support and friendship and to my nephew Tae who accompanied me on this special occasion.
Moments like this are a reminder that leadership is not about following well trodden paths, but about having the courage to create new ones and leaving space for others to follow.
