The legal protection of human rights and fundamental freedoms in the face of new technologies: A.I., algorithms, and Big Data. Ovidius University of Constanta – the venue of the National Scientific Conference of Legal Professions.

National Scientific Conference of Legal Professions – Constanța 2025
The conference, hosted by the “Ovidius” University of Constanța, brought together representatives of the legal professions in a dialogue dedicated to the legal protection of human rights and fundamental freedoms in the face of new technologies.
At the opening of the event, speeches were given by Prof. Bogdan Ciucă, PhD, notary public, president of the Romanian Academy of Legal Sciences, and Sorin Marina, notary public, elected vice president of the National Union of Notaries Public in Romania.
Within the panel “Notaries Public in the Face of Digitalization and New Technologies,” our colleagues Mihaela Durnescu, Luisa Chelaru, and Octavian Rogojanu provided complementary perspectives on how technology is shaping notarial practice.
Their interventions addressed topics such as digital inheritance and its legal challenges, the interconnection of European testamentary registers through ARERT, and the adaptation of digital tools to the traditional values of the profession, demonstrating that innovation does not exclude but can strengthen the deeply human role of the notary.
In the panel dedicated to deans of law faculties, our colleague, Associate Professor Dr. Manuela Tăbăraș, Dean of the Faculty of Law “Titu Maiorescu,” made a very interesting intervention on a highly relevant topic: plagiarism in the era of artificial intelligence.

We thank “Ovidius” University of Constanța for the invitation and our fellow notaries from the Constanța Chamber of Notaries for their warm welcome and support. Such meetings strengthen the ties between legal professions and reaffirm the role of notaries in responsibly adapting the law to new technological realities.” -Bucharest Chamber of Public Notaries
