Richard Atkinson: “I have now concluded the final part of my regional tour of England & Wales to celebrate the Law Society’s bicentenary and what a tour it has been!”

My last two stops were Brighton and Southampton in glorious sunshine.
In Brighton we held a further set of round table discussions with practitioners to discuss the key concerns that they have and the future challenges and they and the rest of the profession face. Once again the discussions were really insightful and will be fed back to Chancery Lane to help us in developing our strategy for the next three years.

In Southampton I attended a Private Client Solicitors Section Seminar which was most instructional and then headed to the University where I spoke on access to justice and enjoyed a wide ranging question and answer session with a local practitioners, university students and their lecturers. It was a real pleasure to meet and speak with both Dr Omar Madhloom – Legal Clinic Director, and Professor Werner Scholtz, Head of Law School both from the University of Southampton.

I must thank Law Society Council member Adrienne Edgerley-Harris and Kevin Richardson President of Hampshire Law Society for ensuring I got to where I needed to be and on time!
