There is a House…
Within the village walls stands a House I have long admired from the outside, It is beautiful, grounded, full of history, but I was reluctant to go in, not sure why. Perhaps it was the uncertainty of what lay inside.
Or a quiet fear that I might not be welcomed, that I might not belong.
After a few years of admiring this House from the outside, I set upon entering, working up the courage to pass over the threshold where I have felt most welcomed.
Every few Sundays I return to this House where in the beauty of the sanctuary I find myself in quiet meditation. A space for stillness, reflection, and shared humanity. I sit among others with different lives, different journeys and as we leave, we are reminded to “go in peace and to love and serve, where creed and colour don’t matter”.
When stepping into rooms we weren’t always sure were meant for us, we are creating space not just for ourselves, but for others to follow. We are leading in a way that makes people feel seen, welcomed, and whole. So whatever threshold you’re standing at this week may you find the courage to cross it.
