I. Stephanie Boyce FKC, FRSA: “AI could mean for the next generation of legal professionals.”

The Rise and Fall of AI?

Yesterday at LegalTechTalk I had the pleasure of speaking alongside Max Junestrand, CEO of Legora, Nishat Ruiter, GC at TED Conferences, Benedikt Raquet, Head of Legal Tech Forvis Mazars Group, and Samallie Kiyingi, Global GC Standard Chartered on the pressing issue of bias in AI.

I spoke about the urgent steps we must take now: to build ethical frameworks, embed diversity in design, and ensure that people remain at the heart of AI systems.

We are all aware of AI’s enormous potential to drive efficiency and productivity, but at what cost? It must not come at the expense of fairness, transparency, equity, or inclusion.

We cannot afford to only talk up the opportunities, we must equally confront the risks.

Yes, AI can revolutionise legal work, from document drafting to legal research to client interaction. But we must not lose sight of why we became lawyers in the first place nor of what our race to embrace AI could mean for the next generation of legal professionals.
