“The human voice is the most beautiful instrument of all, but it is the most difficult to play.”
On Monday night, I delivered my last public speech for 2024, speaking at the
King’s College London Alumni Annual Address.
I reflected on my tenure as president of The Law Society, discussing what it means
to lead with passion and purpose during one of the most turbulent periods in our nation’s history.
My speech also included:
- The woeful neglect and underfunding of our justice system;
-Defunding of Level 7 apprenticeships and the profound effect it will have on access to justice;
-The barriers to justice;
-The need for greater understanding of the law and the rights we, the public, take for granted; and
-The rapid advancement of AI and its future role in a changing legal landscape.
These are just some of the topics I speak about; whilst the topics may change, there are some things
that never change, and that is the passion and inspiration with which each speech is delivered, promising to
leave you inspired to act.
