There is no legal power to review “unduly lenient” sentence from magistrates’ court. @Kirsty_Brimelow

  1. There is no legal power to review “unduly lenient” sentence from magistrates’ court.

2. The court must consider whether it can suspend the sentence and apply those guidelines.

This important step is not in the letter.

“Passing the custody threshold does not mean that a custodial sentence should be deemed inevitable.”

  1. Pedantry/irritation- but it’s a short letter /post and from shadow office relevant to justice- no “e” in judgment

(legal document -not the context of a person having “judgement or no judgement”) and it should be “offences”.

Disappointing in its lack of care about – well- the law and sentencing guidelines.
