I know that timeliness is a real concern at the moment.

Across the board, when we look at timeliness, there has to be significant investment,

and I say across the board again, it’s not just about the judges and the courts,

we are in a sense the end of the road… it is about the legal profession as a whole,

the criminal bar in particular we know is suffering.

So the criminal bar, for example, needs proper funding, and it needs protection,

and the system needs to be looked at holistically from beginning to end if it’s going to serve the public in the way that the public deserves.”
