Coming up soon: my new book about the Presidential power in Romania. An analysis of the Constitutional Court’s case law in the last 30 years. The book is analyzing the Presidential powers and the limits within they must be exercised. A pertinent observation outlines that the personality of the President plays a major role in solving all political crisis and President’s political success is contingent upon the degree of party personalization and support, and on the charismatic bond with the electorate. Overall, a certain informal inclination towards escalating executive power is noticeable at two levels: the government outpaces the Parliament in what concerns the legislative process, whereas the President tends to outshine the Prime minister in political assertiveness and influence.
