Like Company is a Hungarian operator of various web portals on which it publishes informational articles.
It brought a case against Google Ireland Ltd. before the Budapest Regional Court, arguing that the Gemini LLMs have been trained on the articles published on its website, in breach of the right granted to ‘press publishers’.
This is because the Gemini chatbot is capable of producing, on demand, summaries of those articles.
The Hungarian court decided to ask the Court of Justice four preliminary questions.
In my view, of these four questions, only 2 are admissible.-AG Szpunar
