Building Stability in the Legal Profession: The Example of Fritz Langrock

The world is in a state of continuous change, marked by complex challenges and rapid global transformations. In this dynamic landscape, the stability and progress of organizations foundational to the rule of law rely on individuals of exceptional integrity who dedicate their time, expertise, and passion to public service and the legal community.

A prime example of this is Fritz Langrock. Upon completing his three-year term as Treasurer of the American Bar Association (ABA), he leaves behind not only an impeccable financial record, but also a legacy of dedication and close collaboration with leading figures in the international legal profession. Individuals like Langrock demonstrate that the success of a major organization rests on balance, strategic vision, and a deep respect for the values of the profession.

His transition to new projects—whether serving on the Board of the American Bar Endowment or returning to his vocation as a mediator in the peaceful landscape of Vermont—highlights the character of professionals who understand that true excellence means both institutional responsibility at the highest level and human balance.

“Today I completed my three years term as Treasurer of the American Bar Association with my final report to the House of Delegates.

It was an honor to serve with three ABA Presidents Mary Smith, Bill Bay, and Michelle Behnke, two Chairs of the House Palmer Gene Vance II and Jonathan Cole, Secretary Marvin Deng, and the ABA Executive Director Alpha M. Brady.

I look forward to Andrew Schpak as the next ABA Treasurer. He will do great things. I know we are in good hands with ABA President Barbara Howard, Chair Aurora Austriaco, Secretary Elizabeth Kelly Meyers and ABA President-Elect Laura Farber.

I also thank the ABA financial team for the great work we have done together over that past three years – Our CFO Beverly Pendowski, Director of Planning and Financial Analysis Evan Teitelbaum and Laura Macias who keeps everything running.

I look forward to serving on the Board of the American Bar Endowment for the next three years.

I will miss being Treasurer and I am also happy to be done.

Back to mediating disputes in Vermont and talking long walks in the woods with my dogs.”
