The Bar Council of England and Wales and The Law Society announce that leaders of the legal profession from around the world have gathered in London today for the Opening of the Legal Year.
The event comes at a time of growing concern over attacks on judicial independence and increasing threats and harassment faced by lawyers worldwide.
Chair of the Bar Council Kirsty Brimelow KC said the Opening of the Legal Year “is a powerful reminder that our commitment to justice and the rule of law transcends borders” and it is also “a joyful time of memory, tradition and collaboration.”
