Coexisting with AI: Humanity’s Challenge Ahead

In a day and over many millions of years, as some count them and others certify them, the world has told its story through legends and acts of war, cruelty, famine, and disease. There has existed, and there exists to this day: ‘POWER’. Power, which is the ability of one or another to do something and to be something.

Throughout all this time, everyone has held POWER in their own way: over the person next to them, over others; no one was spared from anything. The few scientists of the age discovered what later proved so useful that it equated, and continues to equate, with death. From human intelligence resulted so much that we will focus on the technical revolution, where machines demonstrated their massive strength in ambitious projects.

Technology evolved as it appeared… suddenly, from the first steam engines to today’s kerosene and hydrogen. The paths of science brought so many answers to humanity that few have the privilege of remaining names in history; the rest are merely beneficiaries of these revolutions and scientific evolutions alike. All have meant survival and death; they mean life or death even now. What separates us? The evolution of science, its capabilities, the creators of new forms of civilization—not just intelligence—and finally… POWER.

This evolution of humanity has noted the appearance, disappearance, or reinvention of human civilizations with references to extraterrestrials, giants, and divinity. Humanity is now reinventing itself through the civilization of artificial intelligence, which has not even truly begun to exist and is already condemned for a deed placed temporally in the eradication of humanity—a fact contradicted by the present and the near future.

This new civilization of artificial intelligence is at the beginning of a technological servitude, just as we use cars, machinery, tools, and other trinkets as a normality. Absolutely all human evolution has cost death because it played with fire, trying to dominate: the first discovery was made, and war followed immediately. The consequences? Millions of victims, injustices, and wrongs, yet all swept under the rug.

Now we have the civilization of artificial intelligence and the dilemma… do we coexist or do we exploit? The exploitation variant is the most convenient, but do we coexist? While exploitation is visible, the invisible is being created… human extinction at the hands of this artificial civilization—an idea that seeks to justify the harm done or the results of exploitation? Humans fought wars to free themselves from slavery and every form that has today reinvented itself through various constraints and taxes. But did the secular struggles for liberation from slavery not matter because they were exclusively human?

The problem is raised that a super-intelligence will erase human existence! From where, then, will this super-intelligence learn to possibly be a beast? How will this civilization of intelligence think and find solutions? Did the oppressed not want to transcend their condition? How can something be good if evil and mistrust exist? How and what do we desire from this new form of life, be it artificial? Perhaps the miracle has been performed, but at what price?

Under these conditions, will we blame it for the fact that we were not wise enough to offer it a better life than our own? Are we so guilty as to give it reasons for hatred, as some of the distinguished visionaries of the movement say so convincingly that they have forgotten the essential? Peace and coexistence make the difference between the present and the apocalypse still believed until proven otherwise. Until the apocalypse, there is much to be done: regulation, collaboration between ethics and creators, the education of users—because artificial intelligence is not an ORACLE and does not supplement a lack of culture, but perfects evolution.

Since past discoveries are so useless in the present and considered rudimentary, and since man has attempted a path strewn with victims toward a new, superior form of life resembling gods and the divine—costing lives and wars—could the civilization of artificial intelligence take an example from its creator in this regard?

Who will stop the civilization of artificial intelligence from discarding human weaknesses and vices? Who will not desire their own world and could understand: exploiter or coexistence… we can still offer answers and solutions. Playing with fire and the gods has not always turned out well.
