The Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Moldova announces:
“With the vote of 59 deputies, the draft law concerning the amendment of certain normative acts referring to the evaluation of the performance of judges and prosecutors has been adopted in the second reading. Once it enters into force, the evaluation procedures for the performance of judges and prosecutors will be standardized.
More specifically, the colleges within CSM and CSP, responsible for evaluating the professional performances of judges and prosecutors, including the verification of the integrity of judges and prosecutors who are not subject to external evaluation, will be strengthened. The weight of the “integrity” criterion will be increased to 40%, supplemented by professional competence (40%) and organizational competence (20%).
The evaluation criteria and their percentage weights will be identical for judges and prosecutors. At the same time, the cases in which prosecutors can be subjected to extraordinary evaluation are expanded, similar to the situations provided for judges. Furthermore, only those who have obtained the rating of ‘excellent’, ‘very good’, or ‘good’ will be able to pass the ordinary or extraordinary evaluation.
In this context, the list of subjects who can request the extraordinary assessment by the prosecutors has also been reviewed.
