It was great to be at HMP High Down this week to announce measures to fundamentally change how complaints of bullying, harassment and discrimination are dealt with by the prison and probation service.
In line with some other public services we are creating a new unit in @hmpps to handle allegations of unacceptable behaviour, including sexual harassment. This unit will be overseen by an independent commissioner who will report publicly on the unit’s work.
We will also make better use of data, publishing complaints statistics, and outcomes, to bring greater transparency, while protecting staff confidentiality. The goal is simple: to give more people the confidence to speak up, and that their concerns will lead to action.
