Sophie Jamieson and colleagues at Lewis Silkin to discuss social mobility and the vital role of outreach programmes. We explored how to design effective school outreach initiatives that equip and empower young people to understand their rights and responsibilities, and considered how employers can actively contribute to successful programmes. This work builds on the importance of embedding law in schools to support informed, confident futures.
Continuing my commitment to inclusion, I also attended the Houses of Parliament to support the proposed mandatory ethnicity and disability pay gap reporting, building on the recommendations of the Shinkwin Commission and the Disability Employment Charter.
The UK government is currently seeking views on how ethnicity and disability pay gap reporting could work in practice. The consultation is open until 10 June 2025.
