I. Stephanie Boyce FKC, FRSA: ” I became involved a few years back when I noticed the absence of the legal profession at the fair”

”Powering our future generation for success.”

Yesterday, I went back to school, The Grange School in Aylesbury,

for their annual careers fair. I became involved a few years back when

I noticed the absence of the legal profession at the fair, and I wanted to change that.

To open up the avenues, you get to pass down especially given Buckinghamshire’s

highly selective school system where opportunities can often feel limited for those

who don’t pass the 11-plus.

I want to extend my gratitude to everyone who contributed to our stall, providing branded items

that absolutely increased our engagement and visibility with the students: Jonathan Gilmour Travers Smith,

Alison Eddy Irwin Mitchell, Jon Hayes (he/him/his), DLA Piper, Paul Philip, Solicitors Regulation Authority,

Ian Jeffery, Chantal Venables, The Law Society, Bridget Tatham, Browne Jacobson, Macfarlanes.

My thanks also to Laura Kyrke-Smith MP for Aylesbury who stopped by our stall and I spoke with about

a range of issues including access to justice and social mobility. Finally, to all of you working to make

a positive difference.

In a country where access to our profession is not always clear or equitable, I urge you to attend a careers fair,

a school in your local area and inspire the next generation for success.
