Stephen Parkinson, Director of Public Prosecutions, said: “It’s not about exacting revenge, it’s about delivering justice. We warned of the consequences and we will deliver those consequences. We are likely to authorise more charges in the coming days and weeks. Future cases could involve more serious offences, including rioting which carries a maximum 10-year sentence.”
