“Legal rights mean absolutely nothing if you don’t know what those rights are” I. Stephanie Boyce FKC, FRSA @IStephanieBoyc1

Legal rights mean absolutely nothing if you don’t know what those rights are, and you don’t even know when those rights are being taken away. I cannot say this enough!

Research by The Law Society and Legal Services Board has found that 66% of adults in England and Wales have faced a legal problem in the last four years. Of those facing a legal problem, a significant number did not receive professional legal help. The law touches every part of our lives; you cannot escape it, but yet it continues to bother me how little the public is aware of their rights or when and how to seek legal help.

Having access to a qualified legal advisor to assist when going through significant life events is essential. In addition, properly funded and functioning courts and tribunals require significant investment in the justice system. Justice cannot be delivered on the cheap, not through continuous cost-cutting measures. We must do more to educate the public on when, where and how to seek legal support and ensure the justice system meets their needs.
